The journey
I was initially drawn to latex for its otherworldly appearance. I was intrigued by the construction techniques, so clearly different to those used with fabric, and by its unique properties of stretch and shine.
What I loved most was that the culture behind it fit my whole ideology towards fashion. The handmade aspect is artisanal. Because it is a niche material, wearers are passionate about it, willing to care for their garments and cherish them for years.
Most latex is commissioned for a specific purpose or event, so thought and preparation go into every piece. It creates a relationship of collaboration between designer and wearer, and it means almost everything is made to order. That ties perfectly into slow fashion. Every purchase is considered, fighting overconsumption and minimising waste, as garments are rarely made and left unused.
The craft
Twenty years in latex
More than two decades working in latex and manufacturing her own line have made Stacey a true expert in the material. She knows how to make latex fit comfortably and beautifully.
She pioneers latex-lace designs, coaxing the material into textures you would scarcely believe were latex at all.
Worn by the maker
Modelled by Stacey
Almost every piece you see is modelled by Stacey herself. What began in Greece and grew in Britain now comes straight from her heart to your wardrobe.
